Brahmi/ Ondelaga Tambuli. Tambuli or Tampu Huli is basically originated in the state of Karnataka of the Indian subcontinent. Brahmi Tumbuli is a very nutritious and delicious South Indian curry, Tumbuli is a coconut and yogurt-based curry, It is a quick and easy to make recipe prepared with Brahmi leaves, Brahmi is a medicinal herb that grows in the fields and is a powerhouse of nutrients, ‘Brahmi’ has lots of medicinal properties and it is said that it increases the memory.
Brahmi leaves – 1 bunch cleaned and chopped
Yogurt/curds – 1/2 cup whisked
Salt to taste.
To grind –
Coconut – 1/2 cup
Pepper-corns – 1/2 tsp
Ginger – 1/2 inch peeled
Dry chilies – 3 no’s
Coriander – 1 small bunch
For seasoning –
Oil/ghee – 2 tsp
Mustard – 1/4 tsp
Cumin – 1/2 tsp
Dry chilly – 1 or 2 broken into 2 pieces
Take a mixer jar to add all the ingredients to grind, grind it to a smooth paste by adding the required amount of water to grind.
Heat a pan with oil, when it is hot add mustard, allow it to splutter then add cumin and dry broken chilly, allow it to sizzle, then add cleaned, rinsed, drained, and chopped Brahmi leaves saute for 1 or 2 mins.
Add grind paste into, add 1/2 cups of water, stir, add salt to taste.
Bring it to boil for 10 mins. Switch off the flame, allow it to cool completely.
Add whisked yogurt/curds, stir.
Quick and easy Brahmi Tambuli is ready to serve. Enjoy a healthy meal with rice.
