Cabbage Manchurian Cabbage Manchurian is a scrumptious Chinese starter, in which crisp and spicy deep-fried balls of cabbage and carrots are sautéed with spring onions and a tongue-tickling mix of Oriental sauces one of the popular street food recipes which can be served as a side dish or as a starter.
Cabbage – 2 cup finely chopped
Carrot – 2 no’s grated
Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tsp
Maida/ plain flour / refined flour / all purpose flour – 1/2 cup
Corn flour – 2 tbs
oil to deep fry
Other ingredients –
2 tbsp oil
2 clove garlic finely chopped
4 tbsp spring onions chopped
¼ onion finely chopped
1 green chili slit
½ capsicum cubes
1 tsp chili sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp vinegar
¼ tsp salt
2 tbsp Tomato sauce
¼ tsp pepper crushed
1 tbs chopped coriander for garnishing.
1/2 Pepper powder
Take 2 cups of finely chopped cabbage and grated carrot in a bowl, Add chili powder, salt, ginger garlic paste, maida, and corn flour, Combine and prepare a soft dough. Add 1 tbs of water/ as needed.
deep fry cabbage balls in hot oil, till cabbage balls, turn crisp and gets cooked well completely from inside.
Continue the same procedure for remaining dough in another batch, remove the excess oil in it, put it on a kitchen tissue to absorb excess oil in it.
Heat little oil about 2 tbs in a pan, when it is hot, saute 2 cloves of garlic, also saute spring onion, chopped onion, and green chili,
When onion turns to lightly brown add capsicum, fry for few secs.
further add 1 tsp chili sauce, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp vinegar, 2 tbsp tomato sauce, ¼ tsp salt, and ¼ tsp pepper. saute on high flame till the sauce thickens.
now add fried cabbage balls and mix gently. Sprinkle pepper powder, 1 tbs of chopped spring onion and coriander, toss it well. Switch off the flame.
finally, Cabbage Manchurian is ready to serve by garnishing with chopped spring onions.
