Bajji’s are popular and delicious evening snack across south India, it is a great street food. Bhaji is a deep fried snack using gram flour, crispy and crunchy hot bhaji’s is always favorite snack for all age groups. It is a mouth watering tasty evening snack recipe. An quick and easy appetizer to munch with a cup of tea or a cup of coffee.
Preparation time – 15 min
Cooking time – 5- 6 min
Serves – 4
Gram flour – 2 cup
Cumin or carom seeds – 1/2 tsp
Chilly powder – 1 tsp (adjust to your taste)
Salt to taste
Cooking soda – 2 pinch
Capsicum – 2 no’s cut into pieces.
For serving –
Onion – 1/2 cup finely chopped
Coriander – 1/4 cup chopped
Chaat masala powder – 1/2 tsp
Chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
Fresh lemon juice – 2 tsp
To make or to prepare capsicum bhaji –
Add gram flour in a bowl, add chilly powder, cumin, salt and cooking soda toss it well together. Add little by little water, make a smooth batter similar to dosa batter consistency, mix well as there should not be a single lump in it.
Heat oil to deep fry in a kadai, cut capsicum to desired shape, keep ready to deep fry.
When the oil is hot, drop a drop of prepared batter in it, if it comes up, then oil is ready to deep fry bhaji’s. Dip each pieces of capsicum in prepared batter, so that the batter must coat it properly. Drop it gently in the hot oil one by one, take care not to over crowd them, prepare them in 2 or 3 batches. Fry until it turns to golden brown and crisp for both sides.
When it is done, Remove it with a slotted spoon, drain excess oil in it, immediately place it on a blotting paper (Kitchen tissue) to absorb excess oil in it.
Continue the same for rest of capsicum.
Serving idea –
Transfer hot bhaji’s to a serving plate, add finely chopped onion all around it, add chopped coriander, sprinkle a pinch of chaat masala, a pinch of chilly powder, squeeze fresh lemon juice on it and Enjoy !!!!Tags: #easy, #quick, #south Indian, #tea time snack, #Traditional, #vegan
