Cauliflower pepper fry is a dry curry which goes well as a side dish for rice or roti’s, easy and tasty side dish made with cauliflower and sauteed with pepper. Cauliflower is one of the most loved vegetable at home. Kids love it no matter whatever dish I make out of it. This pepper fry is one such dish that is very simple to make and it does not require a whole lot of spices unlike any other recipes. Just try and enjoy
Preparation time – 10 min
Cooking time – 8 min
Serves – 4
Cauliflower – 1 big ( cut the cauliflower into bite sized florets)
Onion – 2 no’s chopped
Tomato – 1 or 2 chopped (optional)
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Green chilies – 2 no’s chopped
Curry leaves – 2 springs
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tbs
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp (optional)
Coconut – 3 tbs grated (optional)
Coriander – 1 bunch chopped
Oil to fry
Procedure to make or to prepare cauliflower pepper fry –
Bring 5 cups of water in a saucepan to a bubbling boil and immerse the florets for 2 mins. Drain the water completely and keep the florets aside.
Heat a pan by adding oil in it, when it is hot add mustard seeds, allow it to splutter. Add curry leaves, green chilies and ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell evaporates from it.
Add chopped onion fry until it turns to translucent.
Add chopped tomatoes, saute until oil separates from it and becomes soft
Add florets, turmeric powder and salt toss well.
Sprinkle little water cover the pan with a lid, cook over low flame for 3 to 5 mins.
When it is cooked/done sprinkle pepper powder toss well.
Finally add grated coconut and chopped coriander fry for a while, remove from a flame.
Enjoy!!! as a side dish for sambar rice or with hot chapati’s.
Note – cook or boil the cauliflower till just cooked and not too mushy.
Ginger garlic paste and grated coconut is optional, you can avoid ginger garlic paste if you prepare side dish for sambar rice.
If you prepare side dish for roti or chapati you can avoid grated coconut.
