Chilly mushroom recipe


Chilly mushroom recipe is one of the popular Indo Chinese style mushroom recipe. This is a quick Indo chinese recipe for making spicy chilli mushroom. Mushroom are rich in vitamin D additionally, they are rich source of protein. It is a great party food and brings a welcome change from routine gobi manchurian. This flavorful chili mushroom can be prepared in just 10 mins.

Serves – 4

Ingredients –


Button Mushroom – 200 gm (cleaned and cut into half)

Onion – 2 medium chopped

Green chilly – 1 single slit and remove the seeds in it

Garlic – 1 tbs chopped finely

Ginger – 1/2 tbs chopped finely

Capsicum – 1 medium cubed

Spring onion – 1/3 cup

Soy sauce – 2 tsp

Tomato sauce – 1 or 2 tsp to adjust your taste

Green chilly sauce – 1 tsp

Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp

Coriander – 1 small bunch chopped

Salt to taste

Oil to fry

Method –

To make or to prepare Chili mushroom –

Rinse and wipe mushrooms with a kitchen towel. Slice or halve them and keep all the ingredients ready as shown in the above image.

Heat a non stick pan by adding oil in it


When the oil is hot, Add chili, chopped ginger garlic and saute until you get a fresh aroma


Add chopped onion into it, fry until onion turns to translucent


Move the onions and garlic to one side of the pan, add mushrooms, sprinkle very little salt and fry till the mushrooms are half done.


Add the capsicum and spring onions, toss and fry till the capsicums are almost cooked but not soft. Make sure mushrooms are cooked as well.


Mix all the sauces and pour it in the pan evenly, add salt to taste


Toss and fry for another min. Switch off the flame.


Add  pepper powder and chopped coriander toss once again.


Serve chilly mushroom hot as an appetizer or as a side dish for fried rice or noodles and Enjoy your home made healthy and delicious chilly mushroom.

Notes –

If you want mushrooms covered in crispy outer layer – mix maida flour, cornflour, ginger paste, garlic paste, 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce, salt and 4 tablespoons water in a bowl. Mix and make a medium thick batter. Dip mushrooms pieces in prepared batter and coat them with it and deep fry it in oil.
