Egg bonda is a popular street food in India, it is an easy to prepare recipe with boiled egg, which can be served as an appetizer or as an evening snack with a cup of tea. It is a supercilious snack, a kids friendly recipe and a most common monsoon snack , egg bonda is cut into two halves, salt and pepper powder is sprinkled to serve, which taste just Yum !!
Boiled egg – 4 no’s
Gram flour – 1/2 cup
Rice flour – 1 tbs
Chili powder – 1 tsp
Cumin or carom seeds – 1/4 tsp
Oil to deep fry
Pepper powder for garnishing
Boil egg in a vessel by adding water and salt for 15 to 20 min. When it is done add warm water, remove the shell and keep ready.
Heat oil in a pan to deep fry.
Sieve the gram flour, add it in a bowl add all the other ingredients, Mix it to a thick batter similar to dosa batter consistency, as there is no lumps in it.
Add 1 tbs of hot oil to prepared batter, mix it properly.
Take one boiled egg dip it in the batter, until it coats properly, drop it gently into hot oil one by one,( take care not to over crowed it, or deep fry in batches) fry until it turns to golden brown, stir gently in oil and deep fry until it turns to golden brown in colour.
When it is done, remove it with a slotted spoon, drain the excess oil in it. Put it on kitchen to absorb excess oil.
Cut the prepared bonda into two halves, sprinkle little salt and pepper powder on it, and serve with tomato sauce.

You can cut boiled egg into two halves and prepare bajji or you can prepare with whole boiled egg as well.
Adding hot oil to the batter makes crispy bonda’s.
