Knol khol is a popular vegetable with a distinct flavor can also be eaten raw by adding to salads, nutritious and delicious vegetable with numerous health benefits – rich in B complex, includes its ability to improve your digestive processes, help you lose weight, prevent cancer, boost the immune system, regulate the metabolism, increase circulation, strengthen bones, improve vision health, and assists in protecting muscle and nerve function… Kosambari is a traditional south Indian vegetarian side dish. It is mix and match recipe with raw vegetables with lentil, which is very healthy and easy to make, A perfect diet recipe, a healthy salad made with sprouted Green gram, grated carrot, and other ingredients.  


Knol Khol (Navil Kosu) – 1 cup chopped

Sprouted green gram – 1 cup

Carrot – 1/2 cup

Coconut – 1/4 cup

Coriander – small bunch chopped

Green Chili – 1 chopped (optional)

Roasted peanuts – 1 tbs (Optional)

For seasoning –

Oil – 1/4 tsp

Mustard – 1/4 tsp

Cumin – 1/4 tsp

Asafoetda – 1 pinch

Curry leaves – 1 spring chopped



Always select tender Knol khol (Navil kosu) to prepare a salad. Remove the skin of knol khol, chop it finely, keep all other ingredients ready. Add all the ingredients in a bowl, add salt to taste. Toss it.

Heat oil in a pan when it is hot, sizzle mustard, cumin, asafoetida, curry leaves remove from the flame, allow it to cool for few mins,


Add prepared seasoning to prepared salad,


Toss it well, add fresh lemon juice before you serve.


Healthy and nutritious salad /Navil kosu Kosambari is ready to enjoy.
