Peas pulao is an all-time favorite rice dish for all ages. This one-pot peas pulao is aromatic and delicious, an ideal lunch box recipes which can be prepared in a jiffy, This pulao can be made with fresh or frozen peas and aromatic dry spices, which is a light and comforting rice basically a white pulao recipe prepared with only green peas and whole spices, not restricted to try for dinner and even breakfast.
Rice – 1 1/2 cup basmati/Sona-masuri
Green peas fresh or frozen – 3/4 cup
Bay leaf – 1
Cinnamon – 2 medium sticks
Cloves – 4 no’s
Star anize – 1 or 2 no’s
Cardamom – 4 or 5 no’s
Cashewnut – 2 tbs
Onion – 2 no’s chopped
Green chilies – 2 no’s slit
Mint – 1/2 cup chopped
Coriander – 1/2 cup chopped
Ginger – 1/2 inch peeled and crushed
Garlic – 6 cloves peeled and crushed
Salt to taste
Oil /ghee to fry
Keep all the above ingredients handy to start.
Heat a pressure cooker pan, when it is hot add oil in it when it is hot add bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, star anize, cardamom, saute until aromatic, then add cashew-nuts, fry until it turns light brown add ginger-garlic paste, fry until raw smell goes from it,
then add onion, green chilies, saute until onion turns translucent.
Add chopped pudina and coriander, saute for few mins,
Add green peas saute for few mins. Add 3 cups of water to cook 1 1/2 cup of rice. Bring it to boil add salt to taste. Meanwhile, rinse rice drain the water in it and keep ready.
Add rinsed rice, bring it to a boil, cover the lid of the cooker, cook it for 1 whistle and cook on a low flame for 5 mins and turn off the flame.
When the pressure in the cooker settles down by its own, open the lid add 1 or 1 1/2 tbs of ghee, fluff the rice with a spatula.
Serve Peas pulao with veg gravy, onion raitha.
