Ragi Ambali is a traditional healthy and tasty diet recipe. Benefits of ragi are numerous and it is a highly nutritious cereal loaded with calcium, proteins, iron and other minerals. It is rich in fiber and contains very less unsaturated fat that makes it a perfect food for weight loss. A perfect summer food to enjoy with butter milk/curd at any time of the day. Ragi is a powerhouse of health benefiting nutrients that help in reducing weight.
Ragi flour – 1 cup
Onion – 3/4 cup chopped finely
Cumin – 1/2 tsp
Coriander – small bunch chopped
Green chilies – 1 chopped (optional)
Salt to taste
Add Ragi flour ( finger millet) in a bowl add 1 cup of water to it, mix as there is no lumps in it and keep ready, keep all the other ingredients ready.
Heat 6 cup of water in a vessel, add finely chopped onion, coriander, chilies(optional), cumin and salt to taste,
Bring it to boil for 2 to 3 min.
Make a low flame, mix/stir ragi mixture once again with a spoon, now add it slowly by stirring continuously with a spatula.
Cook it for 5 to 6 min in a medium flame, keep stirring until done, (you can add more hot water to adjust to your consistency)
Nutritious Ragi Ambali is ready, Serve hot or once cooled enjoy with butter milk /curd.
If you are making 1 cup of Ragi Ambali – add 2 tbs of ragi flour with 1 1/2 cup of water with a small quantity of other ingredients.
You can add onion and other ingredients to boil or you can make plain ragi ambali and serve with chopped raw onion, coriander, cumin ..of your choice.
