Ragi rotti is a unique breakfast of Karnataka and all time favorite to all.Hot hot ragi rotti with chutney just yummy. A traditional healthy ragi rotti is prepared by seasoning cumin seeds, chopped onions, green chilies …Which is loved by all ages.


Ingredients :-


Ragi flour – 500 gm

Onion  – 3 [chopped]

Green chilly – 2 or 3 [chopped]

Curry leaves 2 spring [chopped]

Coriander leaves – 1 bunch [chopped]

Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

Chana dal – 1 tsp

Urad dal – 1 tsp

Salt to taste

Oil to fry.



Heat a kadai add oil,when oil is hot add mustard seeds,when it begins to sizzle, add chana dal, urad dal


fry till golden brown, add curry leaves, chopped coriander leaves, chilies (optional) chopped onions fry until onion turns translucent.


Add 2 cup of water to it and bring it to boil, add salt to taste, turn off the flame. Add ragi flour and mix well so that there is no lumps in it, little soft than chapati dough, the dough must be easy to spread. Sprinkle warm water if necessary.



When the mixture becomes little cool mix properly, divide it into medium sized ball,take a flat tawa grease it with oil place the dough on it and make a flat round rotti by applying oil to your fingers, so that it should be not too thick or too thin. You can make directly on the tawa or on greased plastic sheet/ banana leaf


Cook in a medium high flame, apply oil around it, cook until done, once cooked flip to the other side for 2 to 3 mins.


Serve hot straight from the pan, Enjoy!!  Healthy and delicious ragi rotti  with chutney and a dollop of ghee.
