Ragi vermicelli Upma is a quick and easy to make breakfast recipe delicious and is so healthy. The main thing is, you have to be little careful when cooking it, Finger Millet’s are an extremely good source of fiber and protein. Ragi vermicelli – 200 gms
Mustard – 1/2 Tsp
Chana Dal – 1 tsp
Urad Dal – 1/2 Tsp
Cashew Nuts – 1 tbs Optional
Green chilly – 2 no’s chopped
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Onion – 1 or 2 finely chopped
Freshly Coconut – 1/4 cup
Coriander – 1 small bunch chopped for garnishing
Salt to taste
Lemon juice – 1/2 tsp adjust to your taste
Oil to fry
Take normal water in a bowl/ vessel, immerse/soak Ragi vermicelli for 2 to 3 mins. Then drain the water in a colander and keep ready. Keep all the other ingredients handy.
Heat a heavy bottomed pan with oil in it. When it is hot add mustard, allow it to splutter. Then add cashew nut, chana dal, and urad dal fry until it turns to golden brown on a medium flame, then add curry leaves green chilies, stir fry for few secs, add onion fry until it turns light brown.
Add salt to taste. stir
add soaked and drained Ragi Vermicelli into, mix gently. Cook covered for 2 or 3 min. switch off the flame, rest it covered for 5 min.
Add freshly grated coconut, coriander, and squeeze lemon juice. Toss it gently.
Enjoy as a Healthy breakfast/as an evening snacks with a cup of tea.
