Raw banana stir fry curry recipe

Raw banana curry is an easy and delicious curry, which is prepared by adding home made curry powder. It is an ultimately quick curry which can be prepared within 10 min, raw banana is tempered and home made curry powder is added in the curry which gives a delicious taste and flavor to the dish. Do try and enjoy as a side dish for rice or roti or with breakfast dishes like neer dosa, rava rosa,or with plain akki rotti. 

Preparation time – 10 min

Cooking time – 5 to 6  min

Serves – 4

Ingredients –

Raw banana – 3 no’s chopped

Tamarind  juice – 1 tsp

Mustard – 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves – 2 springs

Dry red chilly – 3 no’s

Asofietida (hing) – 1/4 tsp

Jaggery – 2 tsp grated (optional)

Curry powder – 2 tbs (adjust to your taste)

Coconut – 1/2 cup grated

Salt to taste

Method –

To make or to prepare raw banana stir fry –

Peel raw banana and cut it into small pieces and immediately immerse in water.

Heat 2 cup of water add chopped raw banana and add salt to taste. Cook until it is soft (Take care not to cook for a long time as it becomes mushy) so check before it is done.

Once it is done strain the water in it by using a strainer and keep ready.

Heat oil in a pan, when it is hot add mustard seeds in it, when it starts to sizzle add broken dry chilies, curry leaves and asofietia (hing) into it. (take care not to burn any ingredients, cook in a low/medium flame)

Add veggies into it.

Stir it in oil, add tamarind juice, jaggery a pinch of salt and mix

Add curry powder on it and combine, make a low flame and close the lid of the pan and cook for 2 min.

Add freshly grated coconut on it and combine once again.

Remove from the flame, garnish it with chopped coriander.

Enjoy raw banana curry as a side dish for rice or roti’s.

 Notes –

You can add any veggies of your choice to prepare this curry and follow the same procedure.

Instead of cooking raw banana separately you can cook it within the curry by adding little water, the vegetable must absorb the water and when it is done, finally add curry powder and grated coconut. Which is the other method to prepare this recipe.
