Rice porridge is a healthy summer food, a simple and comforting meal for hot summer. Simple and easy homemade rice porridge recipe, A bowl of warm rice ganji taken for breakfast harmonizes the stomach and is a great meal to start your day. Rice porridge is beneficial for people with week digestion due to a poor diet or illness. Since it is light and easy to digest it is recommended for those too sick to eat solid foods. 

Ingredients:

To pressure cook –

Raw Rice – 1 cup

Onion – 1/2 cup chopped

Green chilies – 1 or 2 chopped

Coriander – 2 tbs chopped

Coconut – 2 tbs grated

Salt to taste

For seasoning –

Mustard – 1/2 tsp

Cumin – 3/4 tsp

Curry leaves – 2 spring

Oil – 1 tsp

 

Method:

Rinse rice, drain the water in it, add it to a pressure cooker

 

Add all the ingredients to cook, add 4 to 5 cup of water, add salt to taste, pressure cook for 3 whistles. switch off the flame.

When the pressure of the cooker settles by its own, open the lid, stir and keep ready.

Heat oil in a tadka pan, when it is hot add mustard allow it to sizzle, add cumin allow it to splutter, add curry leave saute, remove from the flame,

Add prepared seasoning to cooked mixture, stir/mix well with a spatula.

Serve hot or once cooled enjoy with curd/butter milk and pickle of your choice.

Note –

You can add water to adjust to your taste, if you like watery add more water, pressure cook for 3 whistles, make a low flame for 5 min, then turn off the flame.
