Tomato soup is a healthy soup made with roasted tomatoes, onion, carrot and garlic,  flavored with aromatic spices, add a special zing to this flavorful soup.What is more satisfying and comforting than a hot bowl of soup ? This is an easy recipe and simply delicious. Tomato soup is always good as a starter with crusty bread.

Preparation time – 10 min

Cooking time – 20 min

Serves – 4

Ingredients –


Tomato – 4 big (cubed)

Carrot – 1 peeled and cut into pieces

Onion – 2 medium roughly chopped

Celery – 3 tbs (chopped)

Garlic – 1 tbs peeled and chopped

Pepper – 1/4 tsp

Bay leaf – 1 single

Clove – 2 no’s (optional)

Cinnamon – 1 small stick (optional)

Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp

Corn flour/starch – 1 tsp mixed with 1 tbs of water

Cream – 1/2 cup

Salt and sugar to taste

Butter to fry – 20 gm

Bread – 4 slices

Method – 

To make or to prepare Tomato soup –

Heat a pressure pan by adding butter in it, when it is hot add bay leaf, clove, pepper and cinnamon, saute.


Add chopped onion, fry until translucent.


Add carrot, and celery saute,


Add tomato cubes and saute until it becomes soft in a medium low flame.


Add 2 cup of water and pressure cook for 1 or 2 whistles. Remove from the flame.


When the pressure in the pan settle down of it own, open the lid of the pan, drain and collect the stock, allow the mixture to cool. Remove bay leaf from it and set aside.


Blend the mixture to a fine paste, add it to stock, mix .


Stir properly, add little water.


Once again strain the mixture and remove waste from it.


Bring the mixture to boil for 5 min. Add salt and sugar to taste. Finally add cornflour mixed in water and stir. The soup will become little more thick. Remove from the flame. Sprinkle pepper powder all around. Mix, The soup is ready. Cover the lid and set aside.

Method – 

To make or to prepare crouton or crusty bread  – 


Heat a non stick pan, heat it in a high flame, place 2 slice of bread on it, dry roast bread in a low flame until it turns to golden brown, flip and continue the same. Also for other bread and Cut them into small squares. keep ready


Transfer the soup to a serving bowl, add 2 tsp of fresh cream in it, add few pieces of croutons into it.


Garnish with coriander and serve hot.

Note – 

You can add spices or you can skip clove and cinnamon,

You can add stem of fresh coriander other than celery.

Add cream while you serve or mix before you serve to the entire dish, it is left to your choice.

If prefer more spicy add/sprinkle pepper powder.
